Kosen Judo is the Kodokan Judo branch, or at least was its branch at one time. Initially, it was a series of techniques invented in the Kodokan Judo specifically to deal with representatives of other martial arts schools in public competitions. There was nothing in Kosen Judo that was not in the complete Kodokan Judo system, but it was significantly different in its approach to fighting. Kosen Judo paid less attention to standing fighting techniques and focused on fighting on the ground.
Initially, Kodokan and Kosen Judo were very close, and those who practiced Kodokan Judo could easily go to Kosen Judo and vice versa, but gradually these styles moved away from each other.
Many Kosen Judo techniques have ceased to be recognized in the Kodokan Judo.
Kodokan Judo turned into a purely sports fight, became an Olympic sport, unsuitable for a real fight.
Kosen Judo, due to his obscurity, is almost forgotten and is currently distributed only among Japanese universities.
